🔬 New publication from the BIONICS research group!
We are delighted to share our latest research article, now published in Advanced Functional Materials. Â Congrats to Julien Deschamps and co-authors !
In this work, we explore the design of 4D-printed adaptive metamaterials inspired by the remarkable architecture of crinoids, with the aim of developing lightweight and responsive structures for extreme environments. By combining bio-inspired design, additive manufacturing and thermally induced shape transformation, we demonstrate a new approach to programmable and adaptive materials. The study also investigates the use of bio-based materials and lunar-resource-inspired feedstocks, opening promising perspectives for future applications in space exploration and extraterrestrial environments.
