The BIONICS was strongly represented at the 2026 Scientific and Technical Conference (JST 2026), dedicated to 3D printing of polymers and composites. Six members of the team contributed to the scientific programme through presentations highlighting the diversity and dynamism of their research activities:
PhD Julie Valentin: “4D Printing of Composite Structures for Passive and Rapid Elastic Energy Release”.
PhD Quentin Le Paih: “Towards 4D Printing of Large-Scale High-Performance Composite Laminates: From Experimental Quantification of Residual Stresses to the Investigation of Self-Forming Mechanisms”.
Dr. Justin Merotte: “From Stress to Functionality: Localised AFP-Based Control of Residual Stresses for the Self-Forming of Large Composite Parts”.
PhD Marie Charles-Bray: “Towards 4D Printing of a Hygromorphic Biocomposite with Dual and Sequential Actuation”.
PhD Mathieu Le Blévenec: “Towards an Energy-Dissipating Metastructure Based on Bio-Inspired Design and Multi-Material 3D Printing”.
Pr. Antoine Le Duigou: “4D Printing of Composite Materials: What Innovation Opportunities Lie Ahead?”.
It is a genuine source of pride to see our young PhDs, researchers taking the stage at scientific conferences, presenting their results, defending their scientific approaches and sharing their research projects with the wider scientific community of Polymer Composites / Additive Manufacturing.
Congratulations to Julie, Quentin, Justin, Marie, Mathieu and Antoine for their contributions and the outstanding quality of their presentations!
